Vulcan and Romulan society female lead relationships. I have always thought this was the case from the episode Amok Time. The mistress of ceremonies T'Pau, the only person ever to turn down a seat in the Federation Council one of the most famous and respected Vulcans alive.
In the new series T'Pring (Gia Sandhu) clearly preposes and the relationship is a mistress lead protocol. When Spock presumed T'Pring would understand she quickly corrected him in proper protocol.
In Amok Time T'Pring reveals that she did not want to be the "consort of a legend," as Spock had become to his people, and instead desired Stonn a more docile male who knew his place. She chose Kirk as her champion since every outcome she calculated was advantageous to her: if the human won, Kirk would not wish keep her as his bride, while if Spock won he would probably release her because she had challenged the marriage, and even if he kept her he would quickly return to space. In all cases, T'Pring would be free to have Stonn. Complimenting her logic, Spock relinquishes T'Pring to Stonn, but advises him that "having is not so pleasing a thing as wanting. It is not logical, but it is often true."
In the Enterprise Incident we get a Mistress lead courting of Spock with the Female Commander Tal's superior. The commander points out that there are no methods to coerce a Vulcan to speak, but threatens to torture Kirk until he confesses his crime or dies. Tantalizing to say the least as it appears she has tried and we she her seducing Spock through out the episode in a female lead courting.
I know I am bias I do so love angary women Klingons are so hot, Worf states that the mating ritual consists of a woman roaring, throwing things at the male, and occasionally clawing at him while the male reads love poetry and "ducks a lot" but I digress...
T'Pol even initiated the sexual encounter in Harbinger Commander Tucker begins spending time with a female MACO, and Sub-Commander T'Pol begins to exhibit signs of suppressed jealousy. Tucker goes to see T'Pol for his neuro-pressure session, and discusses his situation with Cole with her. He asks if T'Pol is jealous about him and Cole; she denies it, and asks if he is. When Tucker admits that he finds T'Pol attractive, she quickly kisses him before taking off her clothes and kissing him again… "exploration of human sexuality"
It is a shame that this was not followed through but from what I gathered Jolene Blalock was not on board with the story line and Connor Trinneer was complaining about being a spineless puppy following T'Pol around so Rick Berman Brannon Braga torpedoed the ship and killed Trip. =/
I refuse to pay to watch any thing Star Trek now because of Rick Berman Brannon Braga torpedoed the shippers with malic and intent. So I am behind in the newer series I am sure the ten episodes a year new style will be profitable. I did not like Picards first season when I got it from the library nor the Discovery series first season. I have only seen clips posted on You tube and think I can just wait the two decades for when they are shown as reruns on tv.
