Terraforming Mars by way of utilizing kinetic bombardment or kinetic strikes with Rods of God kinetic energy weapon technology.
Mining the nearest M-type asteroid and the ice rings of Satran using rail gun technology along with slingshot gravity assist maneuvers to bombard Mars with massive kinetic energy projectiles in the attempt to awaken the core reactivate the dynamo and add gravitational mass to the planet to strengthen the magnetic field to a global magnetic field strength. Mars current magnetic field is 1500 nanotesla in comparison to earths 65,000 nanotesla or more then 40 times the strength of Mars. Mars did power an early dynamo that produced a strong magnetic field 4 billion years ago, Magnetic field of Mars. Then after establishing a magnetic atmosphere cool the planet with a bombardment of comets from Saterns rings. After cooling enough seed the planet with life. Easy-peasy.
If anything it would make for an AWESOME syfi movie....
Why is only half of Mars magnetized?
railguns have been researched as weapons utilizing electromagnetic forces to impart a very high kinetic energy to a projectile
Railguns in Space: Muzzle Velocity General Atomics's Blitzer weapon. For this example, it has a muzzle energy of 64 megajoules and muzzle velocity of approximately 9000 km/s. gravitational forces will alter the projectile's velocity and trajectory. inertia would cause the gun and the projectile to travel in opposite directions.
military guns cannot readily achieve a muzzle velocity of more than ≈2 km/s (Mach 5.9), railguns can readily exceed 3 km/s (Mach 8.8).
is there a limit to railgun muzzle velocity? There is no real speed limit, bar the ultimate one that is. But with air in the way of the target it means under 10 km/s will be the norm, likely around 4 km/s as proposed in most military journals for naval railguns.
Railguns can achieve a muzzle velocity of a projectile on the order of 7.5 km/s. The Earth's escape velocity is 11.2 km/s so given the limits of earth based launches space mining would be the logical solution.
