How to Unlock Multiplayer
When you first begin your journey in Diablo Immortal, you'll be steered through a tutorial in the area of Wortham, and won't see or be able to play with anyone for the first few quests. It is only after you have defeated the boss of the Unseen Lair and returned to Wortham to grab the World Map that you'll finish the tutorial.
After that, the towns and zones will be brimming with other players that you can see. By default, you can run into them both in the towns and in the larger zones and regions, and can help or be helped by them as you fight random assorted enemies on the way to your quests. Certain quest events will return you to a single player experience, but otherwise the only places you can force a true solo experience is in instanced dungeons - including Hidden Lairs, Zone Dungeons, Elder Rifts, and Challenge Rifts. While all of these can be done solo, you'll earn extra rewards for completing them in a group.
How to Add Friends
To form a party, the easiest way is to click on the icon just to the right of your portrait. This will bring up a group window, allowing you to tap the + icon on the empty slots to bring up a list of friends or clan members to bring into your group.
If you're looking to bring in random people to help get the job done, the Party Finder feature will let you tailor the requirements you need. This should automatically bring in people who fit your criteria.
If looking to join rather than create a group, you may also spot messages in chat with a banner that indicate people looking to form a party for a specific dungeon or a Rift. You can also click on the person's name in chat to message or request to join their party.
Benefits of Grouping
There are many benefits and perks of playing in a group, even if you're undertaking quests. Most dungeon content will be tweaked in difficulty to a lot for the added party members, and completing events, dungeons, and rifts will reward you with extra loot:
If you have more than 3 other friends or people you play with, you can also form a Warband, and it will increase the rewards you can get, like an extra 5% chance of loot dropping as you play together.

- Completing a Dungeon in a full party will reward each member with bonus experience
- Completing a Rift in a full party will reward each member more Fading Embers due to the amount of Crests being supplied.
- Even when traveling through regions, you may run into world bosses, events, or heavy chests that are more feasible to complete with a full group, making things worth your while.
- Bounties can also be completed as a Party while members of the Party are in the same area. Party leaders will automatically share Bounty tasks with members of their current group. They can also specifically choose Party members they want to share bounties with by clicking on the Party member’s portrait
